Election day is only a scant 8 weeks away. It’s an important moment for all communities on Aquidneck Island and Involve Newport encourages all interested citizens to attend.
Candidates for local offices in Newport, Middletown and Portsmouth have been invited to participate in public forums in advance of the November 5, 2024 general election.
Newport Forums will be hosted at Innovate Newport, 513 Broadway in Newport and recordings will be posted to you tube.
All events are free and open to the public. The schedule of the candidate forums is:
- Monday, September 9, 6:00 pm: Middletown Town Council
- Thursday, September 12, 6:00 pm: Newport City Council
- Innovate Newport, 513 Broadway, Newport
- Thursday, September 19th, 6:00 pm: Newport School Committee
- Innovate Newport, 513 Broadway, Newport
- Thursday, September 26, 6:00 pm: Portsmouth Town Council
- Common Fence Point, 933 Anthony Road, Portsmouth
- Tuesday, October 8, 6:30 p.m. Tiverton Town Council
- The Tiverton Library, 34 Roosevelt Ave, Tiverton
Involve Newport is partnering with Newport This Week, the League of Women Voters of Newport County and the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee, East Bay Media Group and AARP to host these forums.
Candidates for local office participating will provide statements and answer questions prepared by the hosting organizations. There will be an opportunity for members of the public to submit questions for the candidates during the forums.
Video Recordings will be made available following each forum on InvolveNewport.com and NewportThisWeek.com.
